Milbemycin oxime + afoxolaner (brand name Nexgard Spectra) is a heartworm disease preventive that also treats certain intestinal parasites, kills fleas and ticks, treats demodicosis caused by Demodex mites, and reduces Lyme disease infections in dogs. It is also used off-label to treat mite infestations in dogs.

Milbemycin oxime + spinosad (brand name: Trifexis) is a heartworm disease preventive and controls internal parasites (e.g., hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms) and fleas in dogs. Milbemycin oxime + spinosad is given by mouth as a flavored chewable tablet.

Moxidectin + imidacloprid topical (Advantage Multi, Imoxi) is used to prevent heartworms and treat intestinal parasites (hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms) and to treat and prevent fleas in cats, dogs, and ferrets (Advantage Multi only). In dogs this combination product is also approved to treat sarcoptic mange and treat circulating heartworm microfilaria (immature heartworms); in cats it may also be used to treat ear mites.

Moxidectin + sarolaner + pyrantel (Simparica Trio) is used in dogs to prevent heartworms and to treat and prevent intestinal parasites (hookworms and roundworms), flea infestations, and tick infestations. This medication is given by mouth as a flavored chew tablet.

Myiasis is a parasitic infection of fly larvae (maggots). Certain fly species lay their eggs in wounds or, less commonly, on healthy skin, especially near the eyes, ears, or nose. Many species can cause this infection, including blow flies, flesh flies, and the New World screwworm.
